Later, when a forest fire broke out, the phoenix risked her own safety and rushed into the flames to rescue the little birds. She was severely injured and near death. In gratitude and respect for the phoenix - and to save her - birds flew in from all directions. Each plucked the most beautiful feather from its own body and offered it to the phoenix. These feathers were woven into a splendid, shimmering garment - the \"Hundred Birds Feather Cloak\" - and the phoenix was honored as the king of all birds. This story embodies the traditional virtues of the Chinese people: diligence, unity, mutual aid, and gratitude.
