Punctuation Men: Issue #1 - Restored Edition: An Indie Superhero Satire Featuring Heroes Based on Punctuation Marks
(Punctuation Men Synopsis)
Set in the crumbling streets of Grammix City, two ordinary guys decide to become superheroes: Period, a hulking, fat man who tackles problems head-on, and Apostrophe, his faster, sharper, more conflicted partner. Their first big challenge comes at the 6th Street Senior Citizens Care Center, where the evil Frenchman Ruñon Sentaunce and his grotesque four-armed hench-things are running amok, stealing residents' teeth as part of his twisted plan to become beautiful. Chaos erupts, teeth fly, bodies get crushed, and the self-appointed heroes have to figure out how to stop him before the senior citizens are left toothless.
Rendered in stark black-and-white with dry, offbeat humor, The Punctuation Men reads like an early, instinctive take on superhero deconstruction. It is smart, strange, and completely self-contained, blending absurdity, dark satire, and superhero antics. In Over 20 years since it's original incarnation, roughly 2,000 original printed copies have made it into the wild through conventions, local shops, and online sales, with positive reviews hinting at it's lasting appeal. It's a rare, unusual comic with sharp humor that deserves a second life!
